Caffarelli & Associates Ltd. is proud to announce that Madeline Engel has joined our Chicago office as an Associate. From the time she graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she received a Certificate in Labor & Employment Law, Ms. Engel has focused her practice exclusively on labor and employment law. She has substantial experience litigating claims arising under the wage and hour laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and state, federal, and local discrimination and retaliation statutes. Ms. Engel regularly practices in federal and state court and before various federal, state, and local administrative agencies. She has consistently obtained trial verdicts in favor of her clients.

From 2010 through 2014, Ms. Engel worked with Alejandro Caffarelli at his prior firm of Caffarelli & Siegel Ltd., where she pursued claims on behalf of employees in a variety of venues. During that time, she obtained numerous favorable settlements on behalf of individuals and classes of employees. She also obtained a favorable bench trial verdict while serving in a “second-chair” capacity to Mr. Caffarelli, representing an executive seeking unpaid commissions. In 2014, Ms. Engel joined the Law Department of the Chicago Transit Authority, where she worked as a Senior Attorney in the Department’s Labor & Employment section. In that role, she obtained two favorable trial verdicts for the CTA and represented the Authority in a variety of matters including several labor arbitrations and in proceedings arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII, and state whistleblower laws. She also counseled management on compliance with the FMLA and state and federal wage and hour statutes.

At Caffarelli & Associates, Ltd., Ms. Engel will be representing employees in a full range of employment law matters, as well as in class actions. As with all of the attorneys in the Firm’s Chicago office, she is fluent in Spanish.
